Fundraising and Income Generation Consultant

Mountain Heritage Trust (external link) is seeking an experienced Fundraising & Income Generation Consultant to help strengthen their financial resilience and diversify our sources of income as part of their National Lottery Heritage Fund (external link)-supported Moving Mountains with Purpose project.

The Mountain Heritage Trust protects, preserves and shares an internationally significant collection relating to the history of British climbing and mountaineering. Based at Blencathra in the Lake District, they are embarking on an ambitious two-year project, Moving Mountains with Purpose, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

As part of this work, they have recently appointed a new Communications & Business Development Manager and are looking for an experienced consultant to work alongside them and the Trust to develop a practical Fundraising & Income Generation Strategy and Action Plan.

The commission will include reviewing MHT’s current position and opportunities; identifying realistic short, medium and longer-term income streams; developing a practical strategy and action plan; creating tools, resources and a prospect pipeline for fundraising and corporate support; and providing practical advice and mentoring as the strategy moves into delivery.

They expect the substantive strategy development and mobilisation phase to be completed by April 2027, with a proportion of the available consultancy resource retained to provide ongoing mentoring and implementation support through to September 2028.

They are particularly interested in hearing from consultants with a strong track record in fundraising, income diversification and organisational sustainability, ideally within the heritage, cultural, charitable or related sectors. Experience of developing corporate partnerships, sponsorship, trusts and foundations and individual giving would be particularly relevant.

The total budget available for the commission is £10,000 including VAT and expenses.

how you propose to allocate your consultancy time between strategy development and subsequent mentoring/implementation support;

confirmation of your availability to meet the proposed timetable.
